Welcome to the HBMLibrary Family Summer Reading Program 2026! The Reading Program is for all ages and family sizes. Are you ready for a summer loaded with reading, program events, and prizes?

How does it work?

No registration is required for the Reading Program. Physical copies of the reading log are available at the Library. If you would like a digital copy to print at home, click on Contact Us at the top of this webpage, and we will email the PDF to you. Keep track of how many hours you read using the log. Once you finish 12 hours, bring the completed reading log back to the Library for your completion prize and to enter your ticket into the Grand Prize Drawings. There are 5 Read-On tickets per person to increase entries into the Grand Prize Drawings, which will take place in August. Grand Prize Winners will be notified over the phone.

When does the Family Summer Reading Program start?

The Family Summer Reading Program 2026 starts on Monday, June 1st! Reading logs will be available at the Library.

Our first "Kick-Off" program is "The Science of Sound" with Mister C on Friday, June 5th, at the West Jefferson Community Center. The show begins at 10:30 AM. 

Participants at the Kick-Off may enter a drawing for a Dayton Dragons prize bundle or a free ticket for The Dirty Fizz to start off the summer!

What are the Friday Programs?

Friday Programs are designed to help your children explore sound, music, and reading in a fun and exciting way! The Library has planned 5 Friday programs between June 12th and July 17th (excluding July 3rd for the Independence Day holiday) that are full of activities and/or presenters. Each program will start at 10:30 AM, either at the Library or the West Jefferson Community Center. Free pizza will be served at noon at the Library for the kids. Summer Reading Program Finale!

The Family Summer Reading Program will end with "The Magic Duel: Erica vs. Nate!" showdown on Friday, July 24th, at the West Jefferson Community Center at 10:30 AM. After the show, Erica will create simple balloon creations for those in attendance. We will also have face painting and more!

What is the last day to turn in completed reading logs and/or read-ons?

The last day to turn in reading logs and/or read-ons is Friday, July 31st, at 5 PM. Don't wait until the last day to turn in your 12 hour completion ticket if you want more options of prizes to choose from!

What are the completion prizes this year?

Once again, HBMLibrary will be providing children and teens who complete FSRP with a new LEGO/Duplo kit! If you are curious about what you can earn, stop by the Library and check out the specially decorated room. Adults can choose between three different colors of HBMLibrary embossed tote bags.

All who finish FSRP will earn a coupon packet while supplies last. Some highlights are McDonald's, Flyers, Raising Cane's, BIBIBOP, Wendy's, and the Ohio Renaissance Festival.

What are the Grand Prizes this year?
