How does it work?
No registration is required for the Reading Program. You must pick up a physical copy at the Library, or print out the reading log from the PDF below and read for 12 hours. Once you finish your 12 hours, bring the completed reading log back to the Library for your completion prize and to enter your ticket into the Grand Prize Drawings. There are 5 Read-On tickets per person to get more entries into the Grand Prize Drawings that will take place in August. Grand Prize Winners will be notified over the phone.
When does the Family Summer Reading Program start?
The Family Summer Reading Program 2025 starts on Monday, June 2nd! Reading logs will be available at the Library, or you can print the PDF below. Print it double-sided on the short edge so the tickets line up correctly. If you can't, please print each page separately. Reading logs will not be available to print until Monday, June 2nd.
Our first "Kick-Off" program is the Performance Dogs of Ohio on Friday, June 6th, at the West Jefferson Community Center. The first show begins at 10:30 AM and the second show starts at 12 PM. The Madison County Darby Creek Chapter of the Archeological Society of Ohio will be present again to give you a glimpse into the past.
Participants at the Kick-Off will be able to choose between multiple drawings for prizes to start off the summer!
What are the Friday Programs?
Friday Programs are designed for your children to explore the world of animals in a fun and exciting way! The Library has planned 5 Friday programs between June 13th and July 18th (with the exception of July 4th for the Independence Holiday) that are full of activities and/or presenters. Each program will start at 10:30 AM, either at the Library or the West Jefferson Community Center. Free pizza will be served at noon at the Library for the kids. When does Summer Reading End?
The Family Summer Reading Program will end with our "Splash"tacular! event on Friday, July 25th, at the West Jefferson Community Center at 11 AM. All the attractions at this event are water-based, so make sure to come prepared to get wet, and don't forget your towel and/or change of clothes. There will be a water slide, foam cannon, crafts, and more!
What are the completion prizes this year?
Once again, HBMLibrary will be providing children and teens who complete FSRP with a new LEGO/Duplo kit! If you are curious about what you can earn, stop by the Library and check out the specially decorated room. Adults can choose between an HBMLibrary engraved ceramic mug or a three-way charger.
All who finish FSRP will earn a coupon packet while supplies last. Some highlights are the Ohio State Fair, Flyers, Applebee's, BIBIBOP Asian Grill, and the Ohio Renaissance Festival.
